My daughter's 6th grade science project - The Apple Test

My 11 year old is doing her 6th grade science project and she decided to do the USANA apple test. She had all seen the youtube video's and read some of the comments on there and she wanted to see it with her own eyes and make a grade by doing the experiment. She is comparing the USANA HealthPak to Kirkland's brand multi-vitamin (Costco) & a prescription Prenatal Vitamin borrowed from a neighbor who just had a baby. There is also a control container with only water in it. This experiment will run for 5 days to see which apple gets the most nutrients from the vitamins. Enjoy!

So here's a photo log of her results so far. It's been 2 days already and we're coming up on the 3rd. I will be helping her update the images on my blog each day.

The Start: 04/30/2010 4:30 p.m. Filled the containers with filtered water, dropped in the vitamins and then the apple slices. The USANA vitamins have already started to dissolve, while the other two are still solid.
2 hours later the vitamins have dissolved in the water and are starting to affect the apple slices. Can you tell which apple is getting the best cellular nutrition? Keep in mind, all living things have living cells...just like our own bodies:
05/01/2010 4:30 p.m. Day 1 - 24 hours later there are some strange things happening to the Kirkland's brand and prenatal vitamin apple slices. They are growing some sort of funk on them. Even the control, which is just water, looks better than those two. The USANA apple still looks healthy and seems to be holding up the best.
05/02/2010 Day 2 - Almost 48 hours into the science experiment and the funk just keeps getting worse for the two contenders. USANA is holding strong with the control in 2nd place. Now don't get grossed out, but here are some photos. I will do another post after 4:30 p.m. to show the full effects after 48 hours:
To be continued.....
